This is the home page of the Malaria Research Programme (MRP), a lead programme of the
Medical Research Council (MRC) of South Africa.

Malaria Research was first started at the MRC Research Institute for Diseases in a Tropical Environment in Durban in 1980.  The Malaria Research Programme (initially known as the National Malaria Research Programme ) was established in 1992. The programme extended the initial focus from malaria vector research to insecticide evaluations and research on the malaria parasite,  including drug resistance in malaria.
