This map shows the distribution of malaria in South Africa at magisterial district level for 1997 and 1998. It is clearly evident that high malaria risk areas are associated with proximity to Mozambique. The Kruger National Park acts as a buffer to the spread of malaria between Mozambique and South Africa.
